Motion Applied, the leading global provider of top-tier Motorsport electronics, today announces that HUBER+SUHNER has signed an agreement to acquire its rail-focused Connected Intelligence business, marking the next stage of growth for the connectivity specialist and its flagship Fleet Connect™ platform.
The closing of the transaction is subject to applicable conditions and regulatory approvals. Following completion, Connected Intelligence will become part of HUBER+SUHNER's Transportation segment and operate as part of its Rail Communications business.
The acquisition reflects the success Connected Intelligence has achieved in delivering advanced connectivity solutions for the global rail industry. Using technology developed within Motion Applied, the business has established a strong reputation for combining high-performance hardware, software and system integration to improve onboard and train-to-ground communications.
At the heart of the portfolio is Fleet Connect™, the motorsport-inspired connectivity platform that enables operators to monitor, manage and optimise communications networks across their fleets. Together with rail-certified antennas, switches and cable assemblies, the platform has helped customers enhance passenger connectivity, operational performance and network visibility.
Over recent years, Connected Intelligence has secured and delivered projects for major rail operators and partners across Europe and North America, including Deutsche Bahn, Brightline, Amtrak, Avanti West Coast, Great Western Railway, Network Rail and c2c. HUBER+SUHNER has been an important partner in this success. The transaction is expected to strengthen the value delivered to rail operators by bringing together Connected Intelligence's software and connectivity management expertise with HUBER+SUHNER's established portfolio of rail communication hardware and infrastructure solutions.
For Motion Applied, the transaction represents a positive strategic step that enables the company to maintain its focus on its key markets across motorsport, automotive, aerospace, defence, marine and industrial sectors and grow its investment in next-generation technology.
